Soy Africano reveals the recent widespread influence of latin music in West Africa. This night will showcase the thriving “latin afro” scenes in countries like Senegal, Benin, Guinea and the Congo. It's a spectacular adoption of clave­-based Cuban music and New York Salsa embraced by Africans in the 1970s back into the fold of traditional rhythms and sounds. I'm looking forward to this gig.
